Prof. SİBEL POLAT

Biography

She received her undergraduate degrees from Istanbul Technical University, Faculty of Architecture, Department of City and Regional Planning in 1999, and from the Department of Architecture of the same faculty in 2002. She completed her master's  education in 2005 and doctorate education in 2012  at Bursa Uludağ University, Department of Architecture, where she has been working since 2002. Between 2010-2011, she was  invited as a guest researcher to the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Paris-Belleville (ENSA-PB) in France with the Scholarship of  Council of Higher Education in Turkey. In addition to educational activities, she has worked in various scientific research projects and urban-architectural design projects, as jury members in design competitions, and has produced publications in national / international academic journals/books. Upon the invitation she received in the 2021-22 academic year, she was appointed as a visiting researcher at the University Institute of Urban Planning (IUU) of University of Valladolid in Spain. She completed  her research project on public space projects in Spain with TÜBİTAK 2219 Post-Doctoral Research Scholarship. Her study  areas are architectural design, urban design tools, community engagement,  historic town centers, urban regeneration, public spaces and place identity.
