Biography
He graduated from Gazi University Faculty of Medicine with Honors in 2006. Between 2006-2010, he completed his ophthalmology residency at the Department of Ophthalmology at Istanbul Ümraniye Training and Research Hospital. Between 2010-2011, he completed his compulsory service at Oltu State Hospital in the Oltu district of Erzurum. Later, he worked in the Ophthalmology Department at Erzurum Regional Training and Research Hospital. In 2012, he passed the Chief Resident exam and served as Chief Resident at the Ministry of Health Istanbul Fatih Sultan Mehmet Training and Research Hospital. In 2013, he was appointed as an Ophthalmologist at Uludağ University, Department of Ophthalmology. In 2015, he received training and worked on oculoplastics, orbita, and ocular surface at Maltepe University, Department of Ophthalmology for 6 months. He received the title of Associate Professor in 2018, and the title of Professor in 2023. He currently serves as the chief instructor of Oculoplastics, Lacrimal System, and Orbital Surgery in the Department of Ophthalmology at Bursa Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine. He completed his PhD degree in Translational Medicine in 2025.
He passed the International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO) basic and clinical sciences, optics and refraction, and advanced ophthalmology exams, earning the FICO designation. He also passed the European Eye Board exam, earning the FEBO designation. He also passed the Turkish Ophthalmology Association proficiency exam and joined the Turkish Ophthalmology Association proficiency board. He also passed the chief assistant exam.
He is a member of international ophthalmology associations such as the Turkish Association of Ophthalmology (TOD), the European Society of Oculoplastic Surgeons (ESOPRS), the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS), the European Association of Cornea and Ocular Surface Specialists (EuCornea), the European Association of Retina Specialists (Euretina), the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), and the International Society of Eye Trauma (ISOT).
2024 Best Paper Award from the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery
He participated in the study that received the Best Poster Award at the 2024 American Academy of Ophthalmology annual meeting.
He received "Hot Topic" awards for his contributions at ARVO's international congress in 2016, 2017, and 2018. The papers presented at the ESCRS in 2017 and 2018 received very high scientific scores and earned him an ESCRS scholarship.
In 2017, he developed the Uludağ Ocular Demodicosis Scoring with a colleague and published it in an international scientific article.
In 2018 and 2019, he was selected as the most successful academician in the surgical departments of Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine.
In 2020, he gave the European Society of Ophthalmology conference.
In 2023, he received first place in the Best Surgical Video Awards at the National Congress of the Turkish Ophthalmology Association.
In 2022, he received second and third place awards in the Best Surgical Video Awards at the National Congress of the Turkish Ophthalmology Association.
In 2018, he founded the journal Clinical and Experimental Ocular Trauma and Infection in collaboration with ISOT.
He is interested in all areas of Ophthalmology, particularly oculoplastic and orbital surgery and diseases, ocular surface diseases, and eye trauma. His clinical and experimental work focuses on oculoplastic and orbital surgery and diseases, ocular infection treatments, ocular surface diseases and their microbiological investigations, the Uludağ Ocular Demodicosis Scoring, corneal diseases, and eye trauma.
He has numerous publications and book chapters in national and international scientific journals and books. He has presented at numerous scientific meetings both domestically and internationally. His work has been cited in leading national and international journals. He has served as a reviewer and editor for numerous international journals.
