Biography

Ömer Dilek graduated from the Preschool Education Department at Ahi Evran University in Kırşehir in 2015. In 2019, he completed his master's degree in Preschool Education with a thesis titled "Evaluation of the Contribution of Forest School Practices to Child Development" in the Kastamonu University Preschool Education Master's program. He worked as a preschool teacher at the Ministry of National Education between 2017 and 2019. He is currently a lecturer in the Child Development Department at Büyükorhan Vocational School, Uludağ University, Bursa. He currently serves as the Head of the Child Development Program in the same department. His research interests include alternative approaches to preschool, environmental education in early childhood, forest schools, and nature and forest pedagogy. His desire and determination to work in the field of forest schools stemmed from his many years (11) as a camp leader, and the changes and developments he observed in children in nature during this time. This interest led him to conduct studies and research in the field of nature and forest pedagogy. He also participated in various training programs in this field, striving to improve himself in the field of Nature and Forest Pedagogy. She participated in the ‘Introduction to Forest Kindergartens’ and ‘Out-of-Class Education and Forest Kindergartens’ trainings organized by the Doğada Öğreniyorum Institution (I Learn in Nature) Institution. Forest Schools, located in England, invited her to Turkey, where she and 25 other participants received ‘Forest School Leader Training’ training. In addition, she has also conducted academic studies and authored chapters in the books ‘Handbook of Forest Pedagogy in Early Childhood Education’ and ‘Preventive Approaches in Human Health’. She also contributed to the literature with the article ‘Forest School Applications in the Pre-school Period: A Case Study’. As a result of these studies, she has conducted training and seminars at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, National Education directorates, and various universities. Since 2021, she has been the training coordinator and instructor of the Nature and Forest Pedagogy Trainer Training program organized by Bursa Uludağ University Continuing Education Application and Research Center. In 2024, she took part in and contributed to the Forest Schools Workshop organized by the General Directorate of Forestry. He is the chairman of the board of directors of the Nature and Forest Pedagogy Association, which was founded in 2025.
