Professor Karadag initiated his academic journey in 1993 as a Research
Assistant within the Chemistry Department at the Science and Letters Faculty of
Ondokuz Mayıs University. He completed his military duties in 2003 as a reserve
officer, following his doctoral degree in 2001, and subsequently served as a
Research Assistant at Ondokuz Mayıs University for some time. In 2004, he was
appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Science and Letters Faculty of Tokat
Gaziosmanpaşa University. He advanced to Associate Professor in 2007 and to
Full Professor in 2013. Between 2017 and 2019, he headed the Faculty of Science
at Bartin University. From 2019 to 2023, Professor Karadag held the position of
Rector at Yozgat Bozok University. He started working at Bursa Uludağ
University, Faculty of Sciences and Letters, Department of Chemistry on January
2, 2025.
Throughout
his career, Professor Karadag has guided eleven master’s and six doctoral
candidates to the completion of their theses, and he is currently supervising
two doctoral theses. His research expertise encompasses coordination polymers,
inclusion compounds, clathrate structures, ionic liquids, and green chemistry.
He has authored 93 articles in these areas, featured in SCI and SCI-expanded
journals, contributed 3 articles to other international peer-reviewed journals,
and 2 to domestic peer-reviewed journals. Additionally, he has presented 85
studies at national and international scientific meetings, which have been
included in the proceedings, and 2 studies at international meetings have been
published as abstracts in international journals. Dr. Karadag holds 4 patents
related to the biological activities of various compounds and has trademark
registrations for "TOREX" and a hemp-based "NESHE" brand for
cleaning and cosmetic products. His publication record includes one online
book, one edited book, and six book chapters.
As the
project manager, Dr. Karadag led the "Cost-Effective Pilot Scale
Production of Bioethanol" research project from March 2018 to 2020, a
collaboration between Bartin University and the Government College Lahore
University in Pakistan, under the Mevlana Project-Based International Exchange
Program. In the scope of these studies, research was conducted for 15 days at
the University of Lahore in Pakistan. He also conducted a three-month study on
ionic liquids at the University of Alabama, USA.
In recent
years, Professor Karadag has focused on developing sustainable and
high-value-added products, such as food, medicine, cosmetics, paper, textiles,
and bioplastics from Hemp Biomass. His current research interests include the
green synthesis of metal nanoparticles for biological applications and the
production of bioethanol and biobüthanol as a cost-effective, environmentally
friendly, and efficient strategic energy resource
Professor Karadag is
married and a father to two children.
