Özet:

The importance of lighting component in the automotive industry has been increasing day by day. The use of linear designs makes natural convection difficult in automotive lighting units. For this reason, that may occur should be considered when designing electronic control units. In this study, the topologies used in electronic control units were compared with each other and these topologies have been examined in terms of efficiency. The effects of copper area width and number of vias on Rth (thermal resistance) have been computed by using FloEFD program.

Moreover, using curve fitting and interpolation methods in Matlab 2020b environment, equations related to the effects of copper area width and number of vias on Rth values have been obtained. Thus, it has been targeted to prevent the thermal problems that may occur before performing the designs. In this thesis, furthermore, Rth values on the critical component have been computed making use of the equation derived for the different copper area widths and the difference between these values and the measurement results has been as about 3%. Additionally, the Rth values on the critical component have been found as 49,77°C/W 45,08°C/W, 41,5°C/W, 33,72°C/W for different numbers of vias and it has been determined that the difference between the computed values and the measurement results are 1%, approximately.

Consequently, it has been shown that the boundary conditions can be computed and prevent the thermal problems occurring during the design process by means of using derived equations in this thesis.
