Abstract:Kars remained under the rule of the Tsarist Russia for about 40 years with the Berlin Treaty signed after the Ottoman-Russian War of 1877-1878. During this period, there have been rapid developments in various areas such as military, administrative, demographic and cultural in Kars. During the Russian era, there have been very important developments especially in architecture and urban fabric. The Russians, leaving the old settlement area under Kars Castle as it was, created a new urban layout with a grid system on the plain in the south of the city and built new structures in western style. In the period of Russian domination, which played an active role in the formation of today's urban fabric, constructions built in the Baltic style have undergone some changes due to the change of function These changes were mostly in the plan order of the buildings but they affected the facades to some extent. In this study, original facade features of the buildings were tried to be revealed. In the introduction part, the purpose and scope of the study, the literature review, the general information about the study area and the method of study was explained. In the second part, the historical and architectural development of Kars until the Russian period was conveyed. In the third part, new urbanization plan and architecture emerged together with developments experienced in Russian period. In the fourth part of the work, the facades of the samples belonging to Russian civil architecture was analyzed and the facade features were revealed.. In the final section, the data obtained in the fourth section were evaluated.
