ABSTRACT: This study aims to examine the role of Erzurum's gastronomic culture in the representation of space and identity through geographically indicated products. Culture is a dynamic structure shaped by the relationships individuals establish with their environment and gastronomy is one of its most prominent indicators. The registered products unique to Erzurum are considered not only as local delicacies, but also as symbols that reflect the city's historical, cultural and geographical identity. Employing a qualitative research method, the study collected data through semi-structured interviews with Erzurum-based housewives and local business owners, as well as document analysis and analyzed the findings using content analysis. The results indicate that geographically indicated products serve a functional role in the construction of individual and collective identity, the reinforcement of spatial belonging, and the preservation of cultural heritage. Erzurum's distinctive geographical features and climatic conditions play a crucial role in shaping its local cuisine, thereby reinforcing the spatial and identity-related meanings of traditional dishes. Moreover, the growing recognition of local products through gastronomic tourism influences both the cultural and economic dimensions of urban representation. In conclusion, Erzurum’s cuisine emerges as a powerful form of cultural expression that preserves the memory of the past, reinforces social belonging, and renders spatial identity more visible.
