Abstract

We assessed aortic elastic properties in 33 elite athletes and 14 healthy controls. The aortic distensibiliy, index and the percent change in the aorta were significantly greater in athletes than those of controls. The aortic stiffness index was lower in athletes than in controls, but the difference was not significant.
