Induction of anaesthesia with some volatile anaesthetics is associated with adverse effects in rabbits (Hedenqvist et al., 2000). Halothane, isoflurane and sevoflurane have been found to be tolerated badly in rabbits. In rabbits, investigations have shown that induction of anaesthesia with isoflurane or sevoflurane produces a breath - holding response. (Flecknell and Liles 1996, Hedenqvist et al., 2000).
