What Does the Midwifery Students Know About Maternal-Friendly Hospital Practice?

Abstract

Objective: This study was conducted to evaluate the knowledge and opinions of midwifery stu- dents about mother-friendly hospital practice. Methods: The research is carried out as descriptive and cross-sectional. The sample consisted of midwifery students of a state university (n = 355). The data were collected with the Descriptive Characteristics Data Collection Form, the Opinion Form on the Mother-Friendly Hospital Practice, and the Mother-Friendly Hospital Practice Criteria Information Form. Results: The general score average of the students' knowing the criteria of mother-friendly hos- pital was determined as 5.25 ± 4.80 (min: 0, max: 10). It was determined that there was a statisti- cally significant difference between some descriptive features of the students and their views on mother-friendly hospital practices and their knowledge score averages. Conclusion: It was determined that the students' knowledge about mother-friendly hospital practices was at a moderate level. Almost all of the students stated that the mother-friendly hos- pital application was beneficial.
Amaç: Bu çalışma ile ebelik öğrencilerinin anne dostu hastane uygulaması hakkındaki bilgi ve görüşlerini değerlendirmek amaçlanmıştır. Yöntemler: Araştırma tanımlayıcı ve kesitsel olarak gerçekleştirildi. Örneklemini bir devlet üni- versitesinin ebelik bölümü öğrencileri oluşturmuştur (n = 355). Veriler, Tanımlayıcı Özellikler Veri Toplama Formu, Anne Dostu Hastane Uygulaması’na İlişkin Görüş Formu ve Anne Dostu Hastane Uygulama Kriterleri Bilgi Formu ile toplandı. Bulgular: Öğrencilerin anne dostu hastane kriterlerini bilme durumları genel puan ortalamaları 5.25±4.80 (min:0, max:10) olarak saptandı. Öğrencilerin bazı tanımlayıcı özellikleri ve anne dostu hastane uygulaması konusundaki görüşleri ile bilgi puan ortalamaları arasında istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı fark olduğu tespit edildi. Sonuç: Öğrencilerin anne dostu hastane uygulaması hakkında bilgilerini orta düzeydedir. Öğrencilerin tamamına yakını anne dostu hastane uygulamasının yararlı olduğu yönünde görüş bildirmiştir.
