Özet

In this research, it was aimed to examine the effect of breathing–stretching–focusing–relaxation (BSFR) exercises applied to fine arts high school students on their music performance anxiety (MPA).

The study was implemented in accordance with the pre-test post-test control group model. The study group of the research was determined by convenient sampling method and consisted of 50 (experimental n=25 and control n=25) music department students studying in the spring semester of 2022-2023 academic year. The students in the experimental group were subjected to a total of 10 sessions of BSFR exercises for 8 weeks, while the control group was not trained in any way. Data were collected with the "Music Performance Anxiety Scale for Adolescents" (MPASA) and analyzed with T-test.

As a result of the research; despite the fact that there was no decrease in the MPA of the students in the control group, a decrease was observed in the MPASA post-test scores of the students in the experimental group who were subjected to BSFR exercises training compared to the pre-test scores. It is concluded that the BSFR exercises applied in the study were effective on the experimental group and decreased their MPA scores.
