Abstract

Climate change is one of the most complex and urgent challenges of our time, presenting unprecedented hazards to humanity. While its roots are environmental, the impacts of climate change are deeply intertwined with social inequalities, including poverty, gender, age, ethnicity, and access to resources. These inequalities exacerbate the vulnerabilities of marginalized groups, particularly women, who are disproportionately affected by climate disasters. However, women are not merely passive victims; they are emerging as critical actors in combating climate change. This book highlights the necessity of integrating gender equality into climate action and ensuring equal participation of women in decision-making processes to promote a just and sustainable future.

Through an in-depth exploration of key issues such as urbanization, agriculture, water management, health, migration, disaster resilience, and the green economy, the articles in this collection analyze the intersection of gender and climate justice. By moving beyond the traditional victim narrative, the book emphasizes the transformative role women play in climate governance, offering pathways for social equity and equal opportunities. Climate Justice for Whom serves as a vital resource for scholars, policymakers, and activists, shedding light on how empowering women can unlock innovative solutions to the climate crisis while building a fairer, more resilient world for all.
