Abstract
This paper reviews a large and important class of position sensitive detectors called photosensitive gaseous detectors (PGDs). Their main application rests in the imaging of UV photons. There are however, successful efforts to extend their sensitivity to visible light. With some modifications, PGDs can also be used in the imaging of X-rays and particles. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V.
