Ali Canip Yontem's ideas on language, literature, aesthetic and the field of education developed during the pre-Republican period. He actualised these ideas in the field of culture and education during the Republican Period. Moreover, he was involved in the committees preparing the first curricula of the period. In accordance with the 1924 programs, he wrote the coursebook named "Literature". In the coursebook, the teaching of the type and characteristics of the Turkish literature was realised by the help of works selected from all periods of Turkish literature. This study aims to examine Ali Canip Yontem's opinions about the Turkish literature, and the ways he included the teaching of the Turkish folk literature on the coursebooks he prepared.
