Abstract

Hydatid disease is still a serious health problem in such countries as Turkey, the Middle East and South America, where it is endemic. Osseous hydatid cyst, especially involving the ribs, has rarely been reported. When the disease is located in the apical region of the thorax, it might sometimes be mistaken for Pancoast tumor. The recommended treatment is total excision of the involved rib or ribs. We report on two cases of hydatid disease involving the apical ribs mimicking Pancoast tumor.
