The production and use of fuel cells
(FCs) with different principles are increasing with the widespread use of
hydrogen energy. However, if the electrical parameters and design of the FCs
are not made correctly before connecting to the grid, the FCs will produce an
output power with high total harmonic distortion (THD). This will negatively
affect the FC’s grid and cause more CO2 emissions with lower
efficiency. In this study, an FC electrical design was created, and voltage and
current THD values of 3.9 and 5.9, respectively, were obtained,
which are below the limits determined by EN51600. Thus, CO2
emissions from FCs are reduced.
