Abstract

In this study, an automatic vision-based defect inspection and sorting system has been developed

for a plastic injection mold component called side passenger airbag, which is a critical component

in automotive safety. In order to detect the defects on the plastic part, the necessary mechanical

and automation system for the industrial image processing system has been developed. A part-specific

image processing algorithm was created and faults were detected in 1.28 seconds instead of 45 seconds.

Thanks to the developed system, all defects on the plastic product, which is a vital and safety component,

could be detected, and the safety part was sent to the end user faultless.
