Abstract

The increasing use of cardiac devices has been accompanied by a rise in associated infections. Implantable devices such as pacemakers, defibrillators, and left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) are increasingly common. This growth has led to more frequent evaluations for device-related infections and endocarditis. LVADs, often used as a bridge to transplant, are particularly vulnerable, with infection rates up to 13.6% within the first three months.
