BIBLIOMETRIC MAPPING OF STUDIES ON ‘JUST WAR THEORY

This study has been designed to analyse the extant literature on the subject in which the keyword 'just war theory' appears. This study utilised quantitative data obtained from the Web of Science (WOS) database, which were then graphically represented using the Vosviewer programme. In addition, a search for the keyword 'just war theory' in WOS yielded 708 works published between 1978 and 2024, encompassing various study types such as articles, papers, book chapters and books. The predominant study type in this period is articles, comprising 588 works. Notably, Tamar Meisels contributed the highest number of publications, with 15 works.The research fields are diverse, including Governmental Law, Philosophy, International Relations, Religion, Sociology, and more. Notably, the field of governmental law emerges as the leader among these disciplines. The USA has published the highest number of works on the state (248); conversely, in terms of institutions, Oxford University ranks first in terms of both the total number of documents and citations, and the Australian National University ranks first in terms of total link strength. An analysis of the languages used by authors of the publications indicates a broad spectrum, ranging from English to German, French and Italian. The preponderance of the English language in the author's choice of language is noteworthy among these languages. A study of the indexing of the works revealed that they appeared across a variety of different indexes including AHCI, SSCI, ESCI and SCI. The AHCI index was found to be the index in which the most works were published with a total of 248. Furthermore, an analysis of the keywords used in the works indicated that those related to the just war theory, the just war, war, pacifism, and ethics were amongst the first five words to be repeated most frequently.
