Abstract
A new Roman provincial coin type was discovered in 2024 amongst the coins found at Apollonia ad Rhyndacum. It is a local issue from the early reign of Commodus, depicting Apollo, the city’s principal deity, together with Artemis. The obverse die bearing the emperor’s portrait is known; the reverse differs from previously known types, but fits well into the city’s wider repertoire of coin types.
2024 yılı Apollonia ad Rhyndacum kazılarında bulunan sikkeler arasında yeni bir Roma eyalet sikke türü keşfedilmiştir. Sikke, Commodus’un erken dönem hükümdarlığına ait yerel bir basım olup, şehrin baş tanrısı Apollon’u Artemis ile birlikte tasvir etmektedir. İmparatorun portresini taşıyan ön yüz kalıbı bilinmektedir; arka yüz daha önce tanınan türlerden farklı olup tip açısından şehirde kullanılan repertuar ile uyum içerisindedir.
