This chapter examines the role of immersive technologies, including virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), and 360-degree video, in English Language Teaching (ELT). Drawing on Second Language Acquisition theories, sociocultural and constructivist perspectives, and the learning sciences, it analyzes how immersive environments foster comprehensible input, pushed output, negotiation of meaning, and scaffolding in authentic contexts. The discussion considers the specific affordances of each modality, showing their potential to improve language skills, promote intercultural competence, lower anxiety, and enhance learner autonomy and motivation. It also addresses challenges related to cost, teacher readiness, cognitive load, and equity. Future directions highlight AI-based immersive learning, CEFR-linked assessment, global virtual exchanges, and professional development. The chapter concludes that when informed by theory and pedagogy, immersive technologies can enrich ELT by creating inclusive and transformative opportunities for authentic language use.
