The aim of this study is to test a hypothetical model addressing the mediating role of autotelic personality in the relationship between life satisfaction and happiness using a relational screening model. The study was conducted with a total of 273 students (208 female and 65 male) attending the university. Autotelic Personality Scale (Ak, 2021), Oxford Happiness Scale Short Form (Doğan and Çötok-Akıncı, 2011) and Satisfaction with Life Scale (Yetim, 1993), were used as data collection tools. In the mediation analysis process, the PROCESS Model 4 was used, and the bootstrap resampling method was applied to test the significance of indirect effects and the analysis steps were reported in detail. While scores for autotelic personality and life satisfaction did not vary by gender, it was found that happiness scores were significantly higher among women. As a result of the mediation analysis, when direct effects were analyzed, it was seen that life satisfaction predicted autotelic personality and happiness in a statistically significant way. In addition, it was found that autotelic personality predicted happiness in a statistically significant way. Looking at the indirect effect, it was observed that the path coefficient between life satisfaction and happiness decreased at the level of significance with the inclusion of autotelic personality, which is the mediating variable, in the model. According to this result, it was found that autotelic personality has a partial mediating role in the relationship between life satisfaction and happiness. As a result, the findings obtained can be interpreted as the increase in life satisfaction scores of university students can contribute to the increase in autotelic personality scores and with this contribution, happiness levels can also increase.
