A study was conducted for 2 years 2000 and 2004 to determine the critical period of crop-weed competition in 'Malazgirt 89' spring lentil (Lens culinaris Medikus). The results indicated that critical period of weed competition of spring lentil lies between 0 and 873 growing degree days(GDD) and 70 GDD and until crop harvest during the first year and second year respectively. The practical implication of this study is that weeds must be controlled from pre-emergence stage up to 8 th week for the spring lentil to avoid losses above 5%.
