Özet

Technological innovations invariably impact the field of education, with advancements leading to significant shifts in teaching and learning practices. In recent years, the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, particularly in language education, has become increasingly prominent. The rapid development of AI and the expanding literature in this area necessitate a comprehensive systematic review to assess the broader implications for both educators and policymakers. To this end, the current systematic review critically examined the characteristics, impact, and challenges of AI integration in language education, focusing on research from 2023 and 2024. The review further explored how AI tools can enhance language learning, influence student engagement, support skill development, and address the challenges that educators encounter. The findings revealed that AI tools offer personalized and adaptive learning experiences, notably improving language proficiency, especially in writing skills. Additionally, AI-driven feedback mechanisms were found to boost student engagement and motivation. However, challenges such as technical barriers, the need for teacher training, and ethical concerns regarding AI's role in education were also highlighted. These insights emphasize the importance of strategic implementation and support to fully leverage AI's potential in language education.
