International Symposium on EnergyManagementand Sustainability 2025, İstanbul, Türkiye, 27 - 29 Ağustos 2025, cilt.1, ss.10-15, (Tam Metin Bildiri)
The rapid development of mobile communication systems and
their spread into every area of our lives has led to a significant increase in
the number of base stations required to provide uninterrupted communication.
This rapid increase and technological development have had a significant impact
on energy consumption and made energy efficiency a critical issue worldwide.
Since a large portion of energy demand is met by fossil fuels, greenhouse gas
emissions continue to rise, contributing to global warming and climate change
and creating a negative impact on the future of humanity. Therefore, the
importance of energy efficiency efforts is increasing worldwide. In this study,
applications aimed at increasing energy efficiency in base stations, such as
power management, smart climate control, sleep/standby modes, network
management optimization, and renewable energy integration, are examined, and
the effectiveness of these methods is evaluated in terms of sustainable
communication and sustainable environment issues.
