Özet

Çağdaş Dilbilim Kuramları ve Baş-Sürümlü Öbek Yapısal Dilbilgisi 

Pollard ve Sag tarafından yirminci yüzyılın son çeyreğinde geliştirilen HPSG, daha önce geliştirilen sözlüksel işlevsel dilbilgisi, genelleştirilmiş öbek yapısal dilbilgisi vb. gibi birçok dilbilim kuramının başarılı yönlerini de içeren, doğal dil işleme sürecinin evrensellerini açıklamaya yönelik bir dilbilim kuramıdır. Birçok dilbilim kuramının aksine HPSG dili açıklamada cümleyi değil, sözcüğü baz alır ve dizim ile anlam bir arada el e alınır. Model bir ifadenin diziminin ve anlamının, ifade içindeki bir sözcük (baş) tarafından belirlendiği esasına dayandığından baş-sürümlü diye adlandırılmaktadır. Model bir ifadenin dizim ve anlamı için ‘doğru ifadeleri’ (well formed) esas alır ve ifadenin doğruluğu bir dizi evrensel prensip, kısıtlar (constraints) ve ilişkiler doğrultusunda sözlük tarafından belirlenir. Anlamsal ilişkilerin irdelenmesinde temel olarak durum semantiğine (situation semantics) ve ilişkisel anlam teorisine (relational theory of meaning) başvurulur. HPSG ayrıca bir çok yapay zeka ve dil teknolojisi uygulamalarında kullanılmaktadır. Bu özellikleriyle HPSG hem dilbilim hem de bilgisayardilbilim çalışmalarında son derece önemli yer tutan bir kuramdır. Giriş niteliğindeki bu çalışmada HPSG sözlük, dizim ve anlam olmak üzere üç başlık altında ele alınmaktadır.

Contemporary Linguistic Theories and Head-Driven Phrase Structure Grammar

HPSG which was developed by Pollard and Sag in the last quarter of the 20-th century contains the successful features of some previous models like lexical functional grammar, generalized phrase structure grammar etc. HPSG is also a linguistic theory which tries to find out the universal principles of the natural language processing. In contrast to many linguistics theories HPSG takes not the sentence, but the word as a base to explain the language, and it integrates the syntax and semantics. Because the model is based on the fact that the order and the meaning of a statement are determined by a certain word (head), it is called as head-driven. The model takes the well-formed utterances as a base for the sentence order and meaning, and the well-formedness is determined by the lexicon and certain universal principles, constraints and connections. In the analysis of the meaning relations ‘the situation semantics’ and ‘relational theory of meaning’ are used basically. With all these aspects HPSG is an important theory for  the linguistics as well as for the computational linguistics. This introductory paper treats HPSG under three main titles; lexicon, syntax and semantics.
