Abstract

A Lead Hemimnaion Weight from Priene Abstract

In this article a new lead weight from Priene is presented. This weight was brought to light in 2019 during excavations in the small sanctuary north of the Athena Altar. The weight is a heminaion (half mina) in unit. In the essay, the weight is dated according to the archaeological context and the character of the letters. Afterwards the trident (one of three parasema of Priene) will be observed iconographically. In the end, the weight is classified within the Prienian weight system.
