Abstract: The intellectual matrix of Kant contains seminal concepts such as noumenon and phenomenon; a healthy laying-out of these concepts is possible while taking into consideration Kant’s theoretical philosophy. According to his theoretical philosophy, phenomenon and noumenon are completely different concepts. Therefore, it is proclaimed that Kant is the pioneer of transcendental philosophy. So, too, Deleuze claims that Kant is the founder of phenomenology; this all urges us to investigate these two groundbreaking concepts: noumenon and phenomenon. It is also of paramount importance to showcase the critical phases in the history of phenomenology, especially with the new meaning that Kant added to the concept of phenomenon. In conclusion, this paper aims at studying both the critical stages of the history of phenomenology and the general structure of Kant’s theoretical philosophy, especially his understanding of epistemological abilities, in the light of ‘noumenon’ and ‘phenomenon’ as concepts. It also will add new, yet influential perspectives on the issue of if Kant is the founder of phenomenology or not.
