In this study, the experiences of assistant principals during the transition from teacher to assistant principals were examined. In this study, which was designed with a qualitative method, a phenomenological design was used. 12 assisstant principals working in a province in the Central Anatolian Region of Turkey were selected for this research with maximum diversity sampling. The data of this research were collected by semi-structured interview technique. The results from this research show that the participants adapt by developing various strategies against the pressures brought by environmental expectations, the confusion of perception regarding their place in the hierarchy, and the social and emotional tensions in the forms of interaction they establish during the transition.
