Abstract

In the present study, an elastic-plastic stress analysis of steel woven fiber-reinforced polypropylene thermoplastic matrix composite laminated plates with square holes was carried out by using the Finite Element (FE) method. The influence of the square hole parameters which are fillet radius and orientation with different fiber orientation angles were investigated. In order to verify the FE analyses results a limited experimental program was performed with the aid of an approved numerical solution method. According to results, the hole corner fillet radius does not affect plastic stress in the [0 degrees/(3)] and [45 degrees/(3)] reinforced composite plates.
