The present study was conducted with the aim of analyzing the methods of and the factors affecting the acquisition of comtemporary knowledge in the social studies lessons in primary education programs according to the criteria required by the age of information. The research was done according to the survey model and the six schools in Bursa city. The participants of the study were the 2000 students in the aforementioned schools who were attending fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh grades, 162 student families. The data were analyzed with SPSS 10.0 version. The data anaysis was done with the following: frequency, correlation, regression, the reliability, way variance analysis analysis, descriptive statistics, q-square test, pearson q-square, kruskal wallis test, analysis, one, independent samples t-test. qualitative data were analyzed with frequency analysis. The results of the study showed that the factors such as socio-economic level, class level, sex, family, teacher and school administrators affecting the acquisition and usage of the contemporary knowledge in the social studies education.
