Nature Movies in the Teaching of German as a Foreign language with the Example of a Project
Documentary movies, including nature documentary movies, have been used very rarely in the teaching of German as a foreign language despite their rich potential. The present study introduces and discusses a nature documentary movie project. Within the scope of the project nature documentary movies containing information on DACHL countries were used with students enrolled in the German Language Teaching Department of Uludag University (Bursa/Turkey). Data for the study were collected via questionnaires, interviews, and pre- and post-tests. The results of the project indicate that nature documentary movies can make an important contribution to the development of language skills of students and their knowledge about the German speaking countries, moreover, such documentaries are positively regarded by the students.
