Green transformation in exports has been a significant issue in recent years, with the objective of reducing carbon and energy consumption globally. In this context, international organizations with significant global and regional influence, such as the United Nations (UN) and the European Union (EU), have introduced green product lists to facilitate international trade activities within the framework of sustainability. Notably, the EU attaches greater importance to sustainability in the trade of green products globally, with almost half of Türkiye's foreign trade occurring with EU countries. This has heightened the significance of green exports for Türkiye. In this context, the objective of this study is to elucidate the significance of green transformation in Türkiye's exports through an analysis of foreign trade data. In this regard, 44 green products with Harmonized System (HS) codes were selected in parallel with the studies of international organizations. The data on foreign trade for these products were obtained from the Trade Map database. The years 2010-2022 were selected as the study period. The results of the study using compound annual growth rates indicate that the growth in foreign trade of green products in the world has lagged behind the growth of total global trade. During this period, Türkiye's green foreign trade grew at a higher rate than its total foreign trade. Moreover, the growth in Türkiye's green foreign trade was primarily driven by the expansion of its green exports. Consequently, in light of the growing prominence of green products in global trade, it is evident that Türkiye has a significant opportunity to enhance its green exports and implement policies to capitalize on this potential.
