This report describes the first molecularly confirmed case of chromoblastomycosis caused by Fonsecaea pedrosoi in Türkiye. The patient had pruritic, sclerotic, purplish lesions on his right forearm. A biopsy specimen obtained from the lesion was submitted for histopathological examination and microbiological cultivation. Histopathological examination revealed characteristic muriform cells. Culture yielded a dematiaceous fungus, which was identified as F. pedrosoi through internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region sequencing. Itraconazole therapy was administered. After 12-month follow-up, the lesions had regressed significantly. This molecularly confirmed case from a non-endemic country highlights the emerging recognition of F. pedrosoi infections and underscores the importance of clinical awareness for rare fungal pathogens.
