Tanımlayıcı nitelikte planlanan bu çalışma; hemşirelerin toplumsal cinsiyet algısı ile lezbiyen ve geylere yönelik tutumlarının ilişkisini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Yöntem: Çalışma, bir üniversite hastanesinde görev yapan 297 hemşire ile Mayıs-Ağustos 2018 tarihleri arasında gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veriler, demografik özelliklere yönelik anket formu ve bireylerin eşcinsellere yönelik tutumlarını belirlemek amacıyla “Lezbiyen ve Geylere Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği” (LGYTÖ) ve toplumsal cinsiyet algısını belirlemek için “Toplumsal Cinsiyet Algısı Ölçeği” (TCAÖ) kullanılarak elde edilmiştir. Bulgular: Katılımcıların %80,8’i gey ve lezbiyen tanıdığı olmadığını, %45,1’i gey ve lezbiyenlerle arkadaşlık etmeyeceğini, %42,1’i gey/lezbiyen bireye bakım vermediğini ve %64,3’ü bakım verme fikrine ‘Benim için diğer bireylere bakım vermekten farklı değil’ yanıtını vermiştir. Katılımcıların LGYTÖ ortalaması 32±8,82 ve TCAÖ puan ortalaması 94±19,06 olarak bulunmuştur. LGYTÖ ve TCAÖ arasında pozitif yönde zayıf bir ilişki olduğu bulunmuştur. Sonuç ve Öneriler: Araştırma sonucunda cinsiyet algısının lezbiyen ve geylere yönelik tutumları etkilediği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Hemşirelik eğitimine lezbiyen ve geylere profesyonel yaklaşımın nasıl olması gerektiği hemşirelik müfredata eklenmelidir
This descriptive study was carried out to determine the relation of nurses’ perception of gender on their attitudes towards lesbians and gays. Method: The study was conducted between May and August 2018 with 297 nurses working in a university hospital.The data were obtained by using a questionnaire for demographic characteristics and using the “Attitude Scale Towards Lesbians and Gays” (LGY- TS) to determine the attitudes of individuals towards gays, and the “Gender Perception Scale” (GPS) to determine gender perception. Findings: 80.8% of the participants do not know gay and lesbian people, 45.1% would do not make friends with gays and lesbians, 42.1% have not given care to gay/lesbian individuals, and 64.3% ag- ree with the idea of caring as ‘For me. It is not different from giving care to other individuals’.The mean score of the participants’ Attitu- des Towards Lesbian and Gays was 32±8.82 and the Gender Percep- tion score was 94±19.06. It was found that there was a weak positive correlation between LGYTS and GPS. Conclusion: As a result of the study, it was concluded that gender perception affects the attitudes towards lesbians and gays. How would be a professional approach for lesbians and gays should be added to the nursing curriculum.
