Collective scaffolding is a construct of Vygotsky's Sociocultural theory. It occurs in group work as a result of the support by the peer learning in the zone of proximal development. In the second language research there are only reports about the collective scaffolding between older students. The results of my survey show that even five-year-old children can be collectively experts in their second language. Based on two examples I will analyse an implicit and an explicit supporting activities.
