Economic development has been one of the fundamental goals of the Republic of T & uuml;rkiye since its establishment. This can be observed from various statements made by Atat & uuml;rk. For instance, for Atat & uuml;rk, "economic development is the backbone of an independent and free T & uuml;rkiye, and of the ideal of an always stronger, always more prosperous T & uuml;rkiye," and "our great cause is to elevate our existence as the most civilized and developed nation." As seen, economic development is one of the basic prerequisites for becoming a civilized nation and a prosperous society. According to Atat & uuml;rk, failure in the economic field would overshadow the victory achieved and plunge the country into poverty. In this context, industrialization was given priority among the many problems that needed to be solved to ensure economic development during the Atat & uuml;rk era. While national capital/national bourgeoisie was being developed on the one hand, various investments were implemented on the other. One example of this is the "Bursa Mensucat-& imath; Osmaniye Anonim & Scedil;irketi" (Ottoman Textiles Joint Stock Company), which dates back to the Ottoman Empire period. Even though the founding capital of the company consisted of various entrepreneurs, it is one of the significant examples of mechanization in textiles. One of the first examples of mechanization/industrialization investments in textiles during the Republican period is the "Bursa Dokumac & imath;l & imath;k T & uuml;rk Anonim & Scedil;irketi" (Bursa Weaving Turkish Joint Stock Company), which is the successor to the aforementioned enterprise. The company, which continues its existence today under the name "& Idot;peki & scedil; Mensucat A & Scedil;" (& Idot;peki & scedil; Textiles Inc.), holds an important place for both the economy of T & uuml;rkiye and Bursa. In this study, the company's first founding by-law (nizamname) and contemporary newspaper reports will be examined within the scope of the national economy policy, and its economic impacts will be evaluated.
