Abstract

The observation of grain boundary phases in Al-Zn-Mg alloys containing dispersoids was discussed. In the Mn-containing alloy, dispersoids were encountered within the grains as well as the grain boundaries (GB) together with the equilibrium η-phase. The distribution of the Zr-bearing dispersoids was irregular both in the grain itself and the grain boundary. Results show that the Zr-bearing dispersoid were distributed hetrogenously unlike the Mn-bearing ones.
