Abstract

A comparative study of the corrosion behaviour of AISI 304 austenitic stainless steel joined by two different welding methods, namely, electric arc and tungsten inert gas welding, has been carried out in boiling commercial nitric acid. The welded austenitic stainless steel specimens were boiled in commercial nitric acid with a concentration of 55% for 44, 96, and 144 hours. Aftewards, the influence of the exposure time on the corrosion behavior of welded austenitic stainless steels was determined.
