Özet:
The subject of our research is the inquiry of the relationship between the concepts of the `value of beauty? and `work of art? and the contemporary practices of art in the light of the understanding of art in traditional philosophy. The attitude of art in Dadaist interpretations that emerged after the Second World War, opposes the tradition of modern art, which sacralizes the place of art in life. It excludes the values of traditional aesthetics and aesthetic thinking; arguing that art will thereby be emancipated. How about the condition of art today, at the point where the facilities of production has been liberated? This oppositional attitude towards art, has become turned into a reproduction, which transforms every kind of material and activity into art. However, this reproduction, incarnated with the discourse of liberation, brings up the question of quality. As Jean Baudrillard stated, nothing perishes by ending or dying anymore; everything fades away by rapidly reproducing, by spreading. It is clear that practices of art and the debates over those practices are increasing day by day. However, contemporary art practices, whereby the soul of art, the latent power of aesthetic life and meaning are cancelled out, and the form is infinitely resubmitted, are gradually transforming into the repetition of each other. On this path, followed in the name of the liberation of art, practices of art become speculative. They are built on the value of exchange; as their popularity span decreases, strength of their quaintness increases. Debates on `real art? and `value in art? comes to the fore with respect to this transformation. The cultural value of art is no longer shaped by its aesthetic value, it is only shaped by its commercial, economic value. Our understanding of beauty as an aesthetic value is explained in the first chapter. The inquiries of selected philosophers, from both the traditional and the modern era, about the essence of art and the nature of beauty are addressed in the second chapter. The contemporary theoretical works of thinkers, who examine the transformation of art in the modern world and its current state, in relation to philosophy, sociology, politics and economics are explained in the third chapter.
