Abstract

In this study, the Fenton process color and COD removal efficiencies from effluent wastewater samples of organised industrial districts (OID), mostly textile industries or wastewater treatment plants, were investigated at different pHs (3, 4 and 5), Fe2+/H2O2 molar ratios and concentrations. The best experimental results of color and COD removal were observed at pH 4 and 1/5 molar ratio of Fe2+/ H 2O2. At optimum Fe2+/H2O2 ratio, different concentration ratios, even lower ones (80/50 mg/L; limits given by EN ISO 7887) were provided, and 50% COD removal could be obtained. © by PSP 2006.
