Özet

A tendinous junction (connexus intertendineus) of the extensor digitorum longus muscle of the right foot of an adult Caucasian male cadaver was found during our routine dissection. In this cadaver, a tendinous junction was extending diagonally between the first and second tendons of the extensor digitorum longus muscle on the dorsum of the right foot. To our knowledge, this anatomical variation has never been reported previously. According to human anatomy textbooks, in contrast to the corresponding tendons in the hand, all the tendons of the extensor digitorum longus muscle are independent and there is no connexus intertendineus between them. Awareness of the existence of this kind of possible variations should be in mind of surgeons before invasive procedures considering the dorsum of the foot. © 2013 Düzce Medical Journal.
