Machining processes have various restrictions related to cost, material, production method etc. and design for manufacturability is the key success factor for constructing the best equilibrium between the different aspects of production. In the present paper, to improve manufacturability of a part design, a research on design recommendations for turning, milling and drilling operations was made. This research provided the database for the further step of creating a TRIZ-alike matrix-based access tool. TRIZ is a problem-solving methodology developed by Russian patent inspector Genrich Saulovich Altshuler that takes technical problems as a contradiction of two system properties and uses standard principles to remove the contradictions of the systems. The ultimate aim of the TRIZ is to reach the ideal systems.
