Özet

Cultural study is a very important and indispensable part of foreign language teaching. The present study deals with the topic of cultural study in the field of German teacher training at Uludağ University. It deals with the question of which role the cultural study has in the German teacher training at Uludağ University and which cultural issues or information can be taught in the class. Often the teaching of cultural study depends on the teachers' ideas, which wants to convey cultural studies and cultural information in the classroom, so it is important, as this study also shows, to introduce cultural information and issues into the classroom in such a way that learners do not experience one-sided impressions, but a diverse, differentiated and representative image of the country and its people. Communicating cultural studies in an effective and interesting way is the task of the teacher. In this study, it was attempted to use the questionnaire survey to ascertain the significance that cultural studies have in the German teacher's studies for the learners at the Faculty of Education at Uludağ University. The questionnaires have shown that for the majority of students, cultural study is an important part of their studies, and that students perceive the importance of culture for foreign language teaching. By means of cultural study, the learners are given a vivid picture of foreign reality, and that it is difficult to learn the German language without the connection of culture. Cultural studies bring culture and its countries closer, and thus the interest in language increases. The study has shown that cultural study plays an important role in teaching German and that it can help to increase learner motivation and work effectiveness.
