Abstract

Bleeding control is one of the most vexing complications in the thoracic surgery. Tranexamic acid is the most used antifibrinolytic nowadays. We present a new implementation which can easily and effectively control the pulmonary artery branch bleeding during lung resection. Compressing the bleeding area with tranexamic acid–impregnated gauze ball, which was not seen in the literature before, provided bleeding control. On the other hand, a chance to prepare for other surgical techniques for hemostasis was seized. We think that the implementation we present will be useful in thoracic surgery due to the ease of implementation and low cost.
