In this study, four male Kivircik yearlings with permanent rumen cannula were used. The animals were fed according to a 4 x 4 Latin square design over 20-day periods (15-day adaptation period, 5-day collection period). The animals were fed four different ration types. Rations I and II consisted of a 70% alfalfa straw and 30% concentrate mixture, while Rations III and IV consisted of a 30% alfalfa straw and 70% concentrate mixture. Rations 11 and III were supplemented with a daily dose of 4 g of Yea-Sacc(1026) (Alltech, Nicholasville; 5 x 10(9) CFU g(-1)) Saccharomyces cerevisiae live yeast culture.
