Bacterial translocation (BT) is still being believed to be a major problem in patients with several different serious illnesses including obstructive icter. A series of preventive procedures has been tried. (-ie. gout decontamination enteral nutrition, different medications... etc). For this purpose only one study with sucralphate (low dose) + fibroblast growth factor has been found in the literature. In our study we tried sucralphat with routine mucosal protective dose orally to prevent BT in rats. Fifty male Sparague. Dawley rats wheighing 455-490g were divided to five equal number groups. After routine laboratory living conditions and standard feeding, the following procedures were applied to each group:
