Abstract

In this article, it was explored that whether or not electrical energy could be saved via reducing currency voltage and that how much energy can be saved if it was possible to save it. The purpose is to reach information that would help us create an energy saving mechanism in workplaces, factories and power plants in which asynchronous motors were used. In the case of no-load operation, up to 50% energy saving could be obtained. Energy saving reduces with the increase of load. Occasional disconnection of the power supply and intermittent providing of energy provides significant energy saving in case the intermissions are long. This method is advisable for small motors.
