Özet

New trend of fuel saving small motors and CO2 emission regulations have headed automotive industry‟s way to reduce

weight of vehicles by using composite structures. Bumper beam is the main part which faces impact firstly in a frontal

crash. It is wanted from bumper beams that absorb some of impact energy and then transmit equally to the crash boxes

and finally to main columns of vehicle. A passenger car front bumper beam made of Thermoset Composite (TSC),

Thermoplastic Composite (TPC), Aluminum (Al) and Steel were compared by Finite Element Analysis (FEA) in case of

various offset impact and pole impact. Same geometry and boundary conditions used for all materials but thickness was

variable. Result showed that TPC Bumper beam had enough strength and impact energy absorption besides main

advance of being recyclable which has wanted in automotive industry recently.
