Abstract:This research has been made with the purpose of putting for the contributions the Italian composers made to the contrabass literature and determining the works of the modern era. The crucial sentence of the research has been defined as "What are the contrabass works of modern era Italian composers?" and answers to four sub-problems belonging to the crucial sentence have been looked for. The scope of the research is composed of Turkish and Italian academicians who provide contrabass works and contrabass training of contemporary Italian composers. The method of source scanning has been used to reach the modern era Italian contrabass composers, the national and international materials related with the subject such as book, periodical, article, thesis, paper and bulletin have been examined, internet sources have been utilised, written data have been obtained from the specialists who take part in the research either by way of talking face to face or by e mail. The data obtained by source scanning related to problem solving have been put in tables by classification. The data obtained by the source search for the solution of the problem are tabulated and evaluated. At the end of research it was defined that modern era contrabass works have provided great contributions to the contrabass literature from the point of quantity and the contrabass composers of the modern era have produced lots of works and those works belonging to important composers have been both used in contrabass education and in concert programs in Italy but unfortunately this hasn't been the same in our country.
